The workplace

The Center for Balanced Living is seeking qualified candidates that value a challenging, positive, and highly motivated work environment. This position functions as critical support for the clinical dietitians and the Food and Nutrition program for clients/patients who are in treatment for eating disorders. The successful candidate will work with clinical dietitians to order, purchase, and deliver food and supplies along with working in the commercial kitchen, residential/demonstration food kitchen and staff kitchens assisting with maintaining a safe environment for food preparation and consumption.

The successful candidate must possess:

Education: Associates Degree in Nutrition, Health Science, Science or other related field or 2-years’ experience in a commercial kitchen.

Experience: 2- years working in food preparation in a commercial kitchen and/or a production facility or organization is desired. This position functions in a commercial kitchen setting with commercial kitchen equipment as well as residential/demonstration kitchens. There is a physical need to lift up to 50 pounds.

The successful candidate must have strong customer service, attention to detail, problem-solving skills and be able to work independently. The ability to read and understand food ingredients on the labels of all food products is also critical.

Licensure/Certifications: Valid State of Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator’s license, must be insurable and have reliable transportation. ServSafe Manager Certification required (must be obtained within 30-days after hire).

Competitive Wage: $15 per hour and benefits package

Work Schedule: 35-40 hours per week primarily Monday-Friday. Hours require flexibility to meet program needs between 8:00 am-6:00 pm. Occasional work on Saturday or Sunday may be needed.


The Center for Balanced Living is a free standing, non-profit organization that provides multi-disciplinary eating disorder treatment to individuals ages 16 and older. We are proud of our compassionate environment. The Center is internationally recognized for its high quality, evidence-based, best practices in the treatment of eating disorders. In fact, we are one of only two sites in the country providing a temperament-based with support(s) inclusive 5-Day Treatment for Eating Disorders. We are located on the north side of Columbus, Ohio, just north of Interstate 270, off State Route 23.
