June 2000:
The Center for Eating Disorders & Psychotherapy was founded by Laura Hill, PhD

2001:
February

Opens with Outpatient Services
Formulated three-part specialized eating disorder mission:

  • Treatment

  • Education

  • Research

Summer:
Opens Intensive Outpatient Program for eating disorders

2006:
Began using The Center for Balanced Living as dba name

2008, December:
Opens M's Place Partial Hospital Program and step down program M’s Aftercare Program

2010:
Develops an eating disorder electronic medical record via Penelope

2011:
Receives first CARF accreditation for 3 years, maximum possible

  • It is rare to receive 3 year accreditation on the first survey

  • The report noted 19 strengths and 3 exemplary conformance to standards

2013:
Launch first ever capital campaign

2014:
Spring
Purchase building at 8001 Ravines Edge, tripling space for future growth

Summer
Complete renovations on building

Fall
Move into building at new location

Receive CARF reaccreditation for 3 years

2015:
Winter (February)
Open 5-Day Treatment for Eating Disorders, aka NEW FED TR, following initial trials at University of California San Diego

2016:

Dr. Laura Hill retires

Receive CARF reaccreditation

2018:
The Center has over 40 employees
Kelly Trautner, Esq., hired as President/CEO
